One area where Ateneo Loyola try to be good at is at Social Entrepreneurship.  It is a segment of service where the need is at its deepest, and which neither the civil society (including the religious) try to avoid and turn a blind eye too. It is something that the govt does not want to look into or does not have the capability to look into.

Thus, the poor and the destitute, and the street children have to fend for themselves.  In other countries, these are the areas handled by Yakuza or Mafia (in terms of economy, politics and society

One such example of social entrepreneurship is the work of Mother Teresa in Calcutta, where she took care of the sick and dying in the streets of Calcutta.  She organized a movement to take care of this uncared for dregs of society and the rest is history.  Such is her influence that even her personal physician Dr. Devi Shetty is in the service of many who cant afford medical care. as surgery and dialysis.
