Philstar - Bong Osorio - Commonness

I read at the Business Life section of Philippine Star the column  of Prof. Bong Osorio (yes he teaches Marketing Subjects at AGSB) under the title "Commonness"  His article entitled "Political brands must communicate to influence and lead" is a response to the number of candidates who ran for President (about 130)  Not that they are nuisance, but is an apparent response to the management deficit which John Kotter and Chris Lowney says to be in the order of 400%

We share with Prof Bong some of his missives (on top of a good communication plan, and clarity of the communication)

1.  Leadership from within -  he says "good heart and head in combination"

"People don't care how much you know until they see that you care

In any interaction, the problem is not the other person but yourself"

2.  Change yourself before you change other " Let go of the desire to change others"

3. Empty the cup of resistance and anger

4.  Lead from behind;  engage your people to be committed to your cause

  1. I totally agree that it is almost always every time that during the filing of COCs of various politicians and "commoners" who aspire for the highest position of the land, the ambiance is festive. People seemed to be entertained by these circumstances. On the contrary, people seemed to forget history and who these aspirants really are; what are their contributions (if any) in the past; what have they done aside from spear-heading a committee or an inquiry; are they the true leaders in the truest sense of it. I honestly believe that it is time to educate the voting public. I hope that there will be a group in the community that would initiate a move with the advocacy of educating the voting Filipino people especially those who always practice their right of suffrage and yet do not pay the correct taxes, or those among the lowest income-earner of the society exempted to pay it. They comprise the majority voters of the country. That's the irony. They should not be left alone listening to the campaign and be drawn by the most charming candidate. True, political brands must communicate to influence and lead, for a better country.
