Another meaning of passion - to love until or even though it hurts

'Quamplurimi et quam aptisimi" (As many as possible of the very best)

He cared, suffered so much for us, and died on the cross so that we may be saved It hurt

This Man suffered and died for us so that we may have everlasting life

Hi Prof! This quote from Mother Teresa has inspired me to be more generous. It actually started when my sister- who is a contemplative nun, praised me for being generous. However, she also reminded me to give until it hurts. What she said was an eye-opener as normally, we only share or give out of our "excess". Most of the time, it hurts us when we give more than our surplus. But this should not be the case. Just like the widow's offering in Mark 12:44- she, out of poverty put in all everything she owned- even her entire livelihood. The passage teaches us that true discipleship is being willing to give everything we have for the sake of God and the less fortunate, just like what Mother Teresa did. Thanks Prof for sharing.

Actually Prof, I was also contemplating on that. In fact, I was asking my sister if their congregation accepts previously married like myself. I know for a fact that they are accepting widows. I will pray for a new vocation Prof. If it's God's will then, it will be done. Thank you so much prof.

I agree with your sister (Sr.) Leader Cora. You are one of the most generous friends I've ever met. I am grateful to you for sharing yourself with me. It didn't matter to you whether I inconvenienced you by my staying over at your place for almost two years now. What is primary to you is your concern for my safety...that you wouldn't want me to go home, driving by myself during late nights after our class dismissal from Ateneo. I honor you for your self-giving. You are an authentic leader! Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

  2. ~Show love to those whom you think don’t deserve it.

This situation applies when I have people around me who are toxic to me and to others. Normally when someone else is negative towards me or about them, it means there is some lack in their own life that is preventing them from truly loving themselves. If I see this before I react, and put myself in their shoes, it can help me in the situation because I know deep inside it is more to do with them than with me. It’s here where I decide to give unconditional love and give it more frequently. Being this way will provide a good pay off for them, but most importantly, for me, too.

Thank you for sharing this quote with us Prof Jorge. It touched me to try to think of love in this way.

Mother Teresa of Calcutta's life examples made a great impact. She was an authentic leader. I remember how she used to do her ministry with great love...and surprisingly I have not seen her manifest being "hurt". Only a "self-regulated" person can portray that! I know that she is one of the most "wounded" as she picks "wounded" brethren in Christ. She got hurt for the marginalized...the least, the last, and the lost. But the genuineness of her love hid all the hurts.

Thank you too Prof. for always finding ways to enrich our journey to Authentic Leadership. The materials that you have been sending are really helpful! You are leading and teaching by example. It is not easy to post materials during the wee hours of dawn, which you have been doing for us. In a way, that is "giving till it hurts". I learned that you were doing that just to make sure you get a good internet connection. So that somehow stole precious...really, really precious sleeping time. I am very grateful to you po.
