                    Reflection Paper 3
                          My Passion

I am a man of many passions. In some ways the one thing people view me through nowadays is how I can be passionate about things when moments ago I would have otherwise been quiet and withdrawn.

What is my passion? Well, it actually is an omni-passion. I love life and the variety it offers. Good experiences, bad experiences, all are part and parcel of life. That's not to say I don't mind bad things happening to me, but rather that, when I look back at all that has happened I accept the good as well as the bad.

Submission of Genogram

Gage A. Rush                                              August 12, 2015

                           My Genogram

Grandparents' Generation

Father's Side:
1.     Lloyd Rush – My grandfather on my father's side was a hardworking man of simple means. He was an excellent cook and a dependable person.

2.     Audie Rush – My biological grandmother died when my father was still young, and thus we barely knew much about her. I and my sister inherited our big boned builds from her Germanic ancestry.

Mother's Side:
1.     Jose Ostonal – My lolo was a teacher, and struggled to provide for over a dozen children. He had a great mind and an affinity for math and art.

2.     Maria Loretto Ostonal – My lola was the one responsible for taking care of the children and keeping the house. My grandmother wanted to instill a sense of discipline within them at a young age. She also wanted to make sure that all her children received proper education.

Parents' Generation

Father's Side:
1.     Kenneth L. Rush –My father lost his mother at a young age. His stepmother never got along well with him, which forced him to leave home and join the military. He served as a frontline engineer and was changed by his experience. My father had problems but he had great reserves of talent and drive whenever he felt like mustering it.

My father did not have any full-blooded siblings.

Mother's Side:
1.     Miriam O. Rush – My mother was the 5th of 11 children. She worked for various offices before settling down with my father and starting a family. She started and runs the Mister Frosty and Ikabud restaurant chains. Her experience in restaurant management is entirely through experience and hard work.

2.     Sherry O. Marcaida – The eldest amongst my aunts and uncles, my auntie Sherry first worked in Cebu by starting a taxi business, the later worked at Disneyland.

3.     Joan O. Obiacoro – My auntie Joan worked for a while in Dubai as a personnel manager for a company before settling down with my uncle Rudy.

4.     Joel Ostonal – My uncle Joel inherited my lolo's keen mind and mathematical aptitude. He used to work as a teacher at Ateneo before later working for N.E.D.A., and is now currently retired.

5.     Jocelyn O. Orig – My auntie Josie worked as a flight attendant and then later an office in Cebu. She is married to my uncle Bobby.

6.     Glenna O. Harvey – My auntie Glenna moved to the United States and married my uncle George. She works at a department store to keep busy and not be idle.

7.     Eden O. Weber – My auntie Eden also moved to the United States and married my uncle Steve.

8.     Vicky O. Smith – My auntie Vicky is another of my aunts that moved to the United States, where she married my uncle Kevin. She works as a primary school teacher.

9.     Leilani Ostonal – My auntie Lani also moved to the United States, and was for a time married to my uncle Dennis. She works as a chemist at Pfizer.

10.                         Harlan M. Ostonal – My uncle Harlan was learning to be an engineer, but did not pursue his education further. He maintains the family's ancestral domain in Bicol.

11.                         Marjorie O. De Guzman – My auntie Marge graduated from A.U.F. and became a doctor. She eventually decided to take up a nursing job overseas, and is married to my uncle Raffy.

MySiblings

1.     Keane L. Rush – My brother graduated from A.P.C. with a degree in multimedia arts, but showed a very strong passion for cooking. He is the founder of the Champas Mexican Restaurant.

2.     Jade A. Rush – My sister currently works as the General Operations Manager for Ikabud/Mister Frosty. She is planning to pursue a degree in Business Administration at HAU.

Conclusion
I can see a few traits that may have been passed on down the line, but in many cases the ones who succeeded the best out of my family were those that had to try harder even in areas that were not a natural part of their talent.

This is why I believe even though a few elements can change things in or against your favor, most leaders are shaped by their experiences in life, and this in turn makes them what they are.

I am fortunate to have a family like mine, as they have proven to be an inspiration and a source of experiences. They are the force that shaped me, and tried their best to instill some drive and purpose into my life.

Submission of Call to Arms Speech by Gage Rush

                   Call to Arms Speech:
                     Seize Your Future

Ladies and gentlemen, I am not known to be a loud man, but I do know when to raise my voice. For the sake of trying to awaken you all to the potential you hold, to the power you have to shape the future, I will bring forth the fires of my passion.

Things look bleak, and I know many of you feel this to some degree or another. Our country's morals are decaying, corruption and conflict are widespread, and we are slowly giving in to a sense of futility. The rest of the world is in no better shape. Cracks are now beginning to appear in the perceived unassailability of the great powers. The U.S. is torn between two opposing points of view, the growth of inequality has shattered the American dream, and Europe is now stricken with chaos and economic turmoil. China is now beginning to feel the creaking weight of being a superpower without dealing with its own internal problems effectively. The Middle East is aflame with conflict and murder, and almost no region is now untouched by problems. Things look bad.

Sharing Leader Gage Rush Enneagram

Enneagram Results
Enneagram Type 2 - The Helper
Helpers who need to be needed
Enneagram type 2 - The HelperPeople of this personality type essentially feel that they are worthy insofar as they are helpful to others. Love is their highest ideal. Selflessness is their duty. Giving to others is their reason for being. Involved, socially aware, usually extroverted, Twos are the type of people who remember everyone's birthday and who go the extra mile to help out a co-worker, spouse or friend in need.
Twos are warm, emotional people who care a great deal about their personal relationships, devote an enormous amount of energy to them, and who expect to be appreciated for their efforts. They are practical people who thrive in the helping professions and who know how to make a home comfortable and inviting. Helping others makes Twos feel good about themselves; being needed makes them feel important; being selfless, makes Twos feel virtuous. Much of a Two's self-image revolves around these issues, and any threat to that self-image is scarcely tolerated. Twos are thoroughly convinced of their selflessness, and it is true that they are frequently genuinely helpful and concerned about others. It is equally true, however, that Twos require appreciation; they need to be needed. Their love is not entirely without ulterior motive.
Twos often develop a sense of entitlement when it comes to the people closest to them. Because they have extended themselves for others, they begin to feel that gratitude is owed to them. They can become intrusive and demanding if their often unacknowledged emotional needs go unmet. They can be bossy and manipulative, feeling entirely justified in being so, because they "have earned the right" and their intentions are good. The darkest side of the type two fixation appears when the Two begins to feel that they will never receive the love they deserve for all of their efforts. Under such circumstances, they can become hysterical, irrational and even abusive.

Movie Synopsis of #RedCliff, analysis vs. #JosephCampbell and Life Story

Leadership in Movies:
Red Cliff
Red Cliff is a 2008 Chinese film that takes place during the three kingdoms period. The film is historically based, but whether some of the events actually happened as written is a matter of speculation amongst historians. The story starts during the aftermath of the Yellow Turban rebellion against the Han dynasty. The nobleman Cao Cao, having gained prominence after crushing the rebellion, now turns his sights towards crushing his former allies, and to cement his position so that he may one day usurp the throne. He has convinced the emperor that the lords Liu Bei and Sun Quan are planning to rebel. The emperor, being weak and unsure of his position, caves in to Cao Cao's demands and allows him to crush Liu Bei's forces. At the head of an army 800,000 strong, Cao Cao succeeds in dislodging Liu Bei from his former capitol, and is poised to crush all opposition. Liu Bei's tactician, Kongming (better known throughout history as Zhuge Liang) is convinced that guile can beat a militarily superior force. He advocates forging an alliance with Sun Quan, and helps hatch a plan that will allow both forces to destroy the majority of Cao Cao's forces at the site known as the Red Cliffs.

Reflection Paper # 1 Leader Gage's Defining Moments

DEFINING MOMENTS – BY GAGE RUSH
What were your defining moments?  What incidents or events taught you to be better/transformed you?
Off the top of my head, I've had four major defining moments of my life.
My first was my 4th year of high-school. I have always been bullied, and acted a bit differently from others. The bullying, coupled with a sense of "me vs. them" and an inferiority complex, had the effect of harming my studies. I was first confronted with my emotional instability during this period, and it was the first time I had been exposed to the possibility that there was a lot wrong with me. I only managed to pass because my best friend had vowed not to leave me behind to repeat the year while he graduates. He helped tutor me so that I could pass through the skin of my teeth. Despite knowing that I had issues, I still carried on much as I had before. I was still anti-social, had a sense of self-importance, and never thought two steps ahead.
