'Quamplurimi et quam aptisimi" (As many as possible of the very best)
After the singing of the song, Sino Ako and playing MJ Man in the Mirror, the Enneagram and Genogram Presentations (Leaders Liz Medina, and JG. Tamayo) we had the unstructured group activity. The groups had no specific guidelines and tasks to accomplish. They would have to structure their groups and come up with something. And what surprises we had.
1. Quiz bee. It was conducted by the group of Leader Charmaine. Group 4
Members:
Leader Rophelle Ocampo
Leader Liz Medina
Leader Jackielyn Aspiras
Leader Jomari Mangalindan
Leader Josh Go
They gave a prize (Kitkat Chocolate.. Down to the wire, the group of Leader Suzette led the Pedex group. They led from Round 1 to Round 2. For the last question, they lost to Ped Ex group. It is a case of 5000 years of glory broken by 1 instance of mistake
2. Videoke with gestures A song was played, and like a stop dance, you may continue this after
doing a set of gestures, 1. bring right arm to left knee, left arm to right knee, wiggle the hips to right and then to the lift, and then thrust arms to the sky. This was conducted by group of Leader Dr. Alan Garcia. Group 3
Members:
Leader Dr. Marizel Catungal
Leader Karen Kay Guanzon
Leader Janelle Ann Pineda Bansil
Leader Rhea Mutuc
It was a battle between Leaders Oliver and Rophelle. The battle song was "Greatest Love of All" . At the end of the day, the Videoke master (he wanted to find out if there is videoke at Clear Water) Leader Rophelle bested ( Oliver who by the way celebrated his birthday yesterday) Congratulation the winner Leader Rophelle Ocampo. May premyo ba? THIS WAS FUN
3. Getting the class to dance dance dance Led by Leader Dr. Suzette Munoz Group 1
Members:
Leader Dr. Daily Lagunilla
Leader Anne Mayette V. Boise
Leader Belle Katigbak
Leader Stephanie Go (absent)
Leader Corazon Guevarra
The group showed a video clip which was synched by Leader Anne. Then Leader Dr. Suzette, Dr. Daisy joined, and the rest of the group got the rest of the class to join. As per their discussion, the 2nd guy who joins is critical. He has the courage to have thick face to join the leader....The Professor joined merrily the group but the knees knocking at each other (joke only) It like having a public activity going viral It is not far from having the crowd have a mob or lynching behavior. All it takes is a good example or a fiery speech. Great Work Group 1.
4. Leading the blind Led by Leader Michael Manauis Group 2 (Ped Ex)
Members:
Leader Bien Velasquez (absent)
Leader Cezar Cortez
Leader Oliver Pabillon
Leader Dr. Joseph George Tamayo
The activity they planned consisting of blindfolding subjects and having them negotiate a maze filled with crumpled newspaper obstacles. The guide has to instruct the blind subject how to adroitly negotiate the maze cum obstacles. Two sets were made to traverse the maze. It was a difficult task. No one succeeded in crossing the maze.
5. Clash of Cheerers Led by Leader Rony Cabuyadao and Dr. Mark Paroli Group 5
Cheer leading battle
Hindi patatalo
Members:
Leader Tistan Val Leonida (absent)
Leader Gage Rush
Leader Jose Manuel Pontillas
Leader Mark Paroli
The 4 groups were regrouped into two to come up in 5 minutes a cheerleading dance and cheer. It was 15 minutes past 10 when everybody was ready (it was fast though since we started at 10:05. This was where the fun started. The first group replied to the second group, "Di kami patatalo"
It as a great talent night, great night for advanced team building. It was a great test for unstructured class activity. It was real test of finding the right leader, getting the group to cooperate and plan and execute it.
The concern of this Lecturer, is that he may be banned from further teaching or teaching this course for using unorthodox methods, or buckling to the student pressure to convert the Hallowed classroom of AGSB into game grooms Videoke/KTV bars, and even sports arena. Maybe it was willed that I missed my camera, otherwise, I would have plenty of self incriminating pictures Hahaha.
The Prof nakikigulo; following the leader
Baka ma ban sa pagtuturo ng leadership for unorthodox methods
The Class Sec Leader VP Belle commented via text that this fun night was welcome change to stress filled 3 weeks of work....Wow
Leadership subject at AGSB is an Ateneo advantage. It emphasizes leadership from within, authentic leadership. One of its pillars is love. This is odd in a cold steely corporate world. The others are heroism, ingenuity and self awareness. The goal of leadership is not only to develop oneself but to clone other leaders. Everybody has potential to be leader. What we do, even if we do not have followers influences/affects others. It is time to define Filipino leadership too

Before the class started, all of us leaders were all anxious about the conduct of the oral recitation. We were praying the class would just finish quickly. But it turned out very differently. All of us had fun and excitement during our unstructured group activity. There was great participation and teamwork from all of us leaders and of course we appreciate Prof joining our nae nae dance. Thank you Prof. The stress we had was completely erased and it turned to be a momentous event for all of us. Congratulations to everyone. I am sure we will have another great day on Friday during the team building. Get ready for next Friday Leaders!

Mas marami tayo siguradong natutunan sa unstructured Leader's Group Activity kasi Leadership in action. Di dapat maging anxious sa recitation. Requirement ng school na mag bigay ng exam. Mas fruitful lang mga ginawa ng mga Leaders last Friday. Congratulations to the Leaders
DeleteIt was well worth it! I mean even when we had to fore go the academics (oral recitation), we learned a lot from the 'leadership activities' last night. I went home, more energized, motivated, and inspired to do greater things. Honestly, it gave me determination to learn more. I just finished reading more than 150 pages of Lowney's book and it sparked in me a greater determination to pursue heroic leadership. How excellently written! I am totally amazed at the 450 year old company that changed the world! I am so privileged to benefit from the educational enterprise that this Jesuit company built. To God be the glory!
ReplyDeleteVery good Secretary Leader Belle.
DeleteIt was I think first time in the history of Ateneo GSB Clark. It was exhausting but a lot of fun. A good warm up for our team building on Friday. Be ready fellow leaders for another fun-filled evening. See you all guys on Friday. Thanks Prof for dancing with us. Thanks also for being a good sport. Have a blessed Sunday everyone!
ReplyDeleteWhich brings forth another dimension of self awareness that we have to keep ourselves healthy through exercise and good nutrition Dancing is a social grace. If we had time, baka mag ball room dancing pa tayo. Hahaha. Sobra na iyon
DeleteProf said to "think-out-of-the-box" and so we did. Learning in an unorthodox way is sometimes needed to perk up the class.

It was a successful group activity. Thanks to your group for the ice breaker...We are fortunate that this class is composed of ingenious leaders. Thank you for the comment Leader Dr. Charm
DeleteI had fun last session my fellow leaders. Sometimes leadership does not mean to always be serious. It takes guts to show the child in you but still have people's respect. we made fun of ourselves but was indeed educational.. kudos for all the teams creativity and wit. Always game! That is leadership..
ReplyDeleteLeader Rcee Mutuc
It jives with the hotly contested song, Greatest Love of all. We have to give a sense of pride to children, as we are proud to be child again. Thanks for the comment Leader Rcee
DeleteThat was a cool Friday session. The leaders were more relaxed, though still competitive. it brought out the best in all Leaders, , we enjoyed singing ,dancing and playing games. All came out winners More to expect this coming Friday. For our Team building. Have an enjoyable weekend Professor Jorge our moving Leader and Master and all fellow Leader classmates
ReplyDeleteThanks for the kind words Leader Dra Daisy
DeleteThis day ended entirely different from what I expected prior the class. It was one of my best experience in the MBA program, particularly the last part.
ReplyDeleteDuring the time where we are to create a group activity, we were supposed to do a role play about a scenario of a middle manager/father's dilemma. Seeing our activity might become out of placed comparing to the previous groups, we decided to make another one, a livelier one.
It was a last minute decision, it happened while it was group 3's turn to present(reason why I couldn't stand up for the dance because I was looking for a good cheer dance video in youtube). It was leadership in action for all the members of the group. Everything from the planning, decision making, division of labor and execution. A phenomenal experience!

ReplyDeleteDear Leaders, I just want to share my personal notes on what had transpired on last night’s Group presentations and activities (July 24 class session). When I say it was a night full of fun, learning, revelations among others, that’s an understatement. Last night, the whole Class was on fire and over-flowing with so much energy! The Class has collectively shown and demonstrated many traits and characteristics of good and authentic leaders. The teamwork exemplified by each group was excellent. The creativity of the group presentations or activities was amazing. It started with the friendly competition among the individual groups, with each group’s goal to be on top. It was followed by the exciting karaoke with a twist, then the exuberant showdown on the dance floor! Then, came the test of trust and effective communication in a very interactive approach. But, wait, there’s more. Our own group’s first planned presentation had to be abandoned and we had to adapt (impromptu) to the unwritten theme of the night’s proceedings. We wanted to test the other groups' decision-making process/ability and creativity, under time pressure, and we were surprised how quick they were to come up with their presentation. Another remarkable thing was the seamless transition from the individual group competition mode earlier that night to group collaboration, when two groups had to join forces to come up with their pep cheers. Another notable observation was the ingenuity shown by the joint groups, when the materials used in the previous group presentations were duly utilized as pom-poms and props. These show how really good leaders the whole Class is, being able to adapt to a situation given and the eagerness to collaborate with fellow leaders to achieve a common goal. The Class was concluded beyond the usual time, but nobody seems to mind it at all. Everybody had just fun and enjoyed every moment of it… Kudos to All!
Yes po Prof, we gave a prize for the winner. Our group gave the winning team candies and extra coke mismo for every members of the team. The activity of doing anything made me realize that team work is very important, although we have a leader, members' opinions and suggestions are still very important. Last session was very fun, everyone enjoyed all the activities. And Prof ang galing niyo palang sumayaw. :)
ReplyDeleteUntil today I still smile whenever I remember our 4th session. This is the first time I see the class with so much fun while still exhibiting our leadership skills. Our group presented the leader's feud which demonstrated that a leader should be informed and knowledgeable. Nae-Nae group gives me goose bumps after hearing their commentary - leaders must be thick-skin and must expect to be ridicule initially, leaders need to have originality and the importance of the first follower. Videoke is a hit and cheering is a great to show leadership skill for a finale while under time pressure. They say the likes of our age learn more when we are having fun. Great idea from all!
