Good to hear from you...

There is an issue of revising our law for NTC to have a teeth in going after the telcos.... I also heard that Telstra with SMC will invest..  plus the plan of Zuckerberg in using a satellite for internet connection.. Hoping that all of these will push through to increase the competition.

Yes, we will continue campaigning until we realize our dream of a cheaper and faster internet.

I have made 9 posts and very few are following or are reading this site.

There are several developments in this area.  One solution is to have peering deal between telcos in the PHL say between Globe and PLDT.  Under the peering arrangement, the local traffic can be directed between the local exchanges, without cost on either parties thus lessening costs, and faster access.  As of now, the traffic between two Telcos have to go through an international node at HK thus, increasing cost and increasing access time.

Globe and PLDT are now in serious talks on IPP (Internet Peering Protocols)  So far, PLDT gave in to peer with DOST so that many can gain easier access to govt.  sites.  I foresee tough nego between  PLDT and Globe, because this means loss of revenues for PLDT (this could be a major source of revenue for PLDT, since they control the backbone after Digitel purchase)

Two options are available:

1.  For PLDT to allow the peering;

2.  And for NTC to show its teeth as a regulator, and force the peering.  Last year, PLDT objected to the peering order from NTC  So far nothing was heard again from this peering memo.  How come

So we netizens can kulit/campaign appeal to the Gilas sponsor, or to NTC to hear the netizens speed up this basic service.

Mark Zuckerberg, the chair of Facebook advocates that faster and easier access to internet is KEY TO PROGRESS.

Reflection paper no. 1 / My defining moments by Leader Engr. Cezar Cortez

I started as a Repair Engineer at Aviat Networks way back October 2000. This is a new environment for me after coming from a Semiconductor/Manufacturing firm. Aviat Networks is more of a Telecommunications industry that is totally different from my previous company. We serve SMART and GLOBE to provide their end users ability to communicate thru text, calls and act as a super highway for Internet Access. Aviat Networks pay a good amount of salary plus the numerous benefits that we received which I never knew existing in a corporate world. We only work until Friday compare to the Saturday and sometimes (even Sunday) with my previous employer. I remember telling myself that I will make sure that I will give this company a 101% of my capability.

My defining moment was when I was promoted as a Supervisor in just 3^rd year of my career in the company. I believe in my heart that God puts me here. First, I'm not the best Electronics engineer to be in the position. There are many talented and smarter Engineers than me. Second, one of my colleagues is even our no. 2 in the Electronics Engineering class and I'm probably the no. 22 out of our 25 students. I was one of the employees to be promoted Supervisor in just my 3^rd year in the company. Probably, the bosses can see thing in me that I cannot see in myself. Honestly, I never expected to be promoted that easily. One of the best guess I can give is probably I can easily adapt to new things and the maturity in handling difficult situations. I may never have the excellent talent in providing the best technical solutions to an issue surrounding the quality of the products. But I created an innovative process that change the way we do things. I introduce a technique on how to increase our output by 300%. I removed all unnecessary process that slows us down in serving the customers.
