Last night, I returned from the Cebu Regis Leadership stint. It was a two day sojourn, very memorable and exciting. There were dark clouds though because of the Nona typhoon on the way back but could not detract the excitement of the week that was. The AVP presentation of MM class, the team building and social outreach of the Cebu Leadership Class
I am just trying to catch up with the update on the posts because my laptop was malfunctioning; I did not have it with me
1. I recall the quote from Leader Alexis Tan that says, to be motivated (to inspire) oneself is great, but INSPIRING OTHERS IS INCREDIBLE. The AVP are the stories we want Filipinos, and other people to see watch, and be touched, affected by the same. The stories of our forgotten heroes are not the stuff that people can relate to or be inspired. For people who are selfish and who are shy to have their AVP seen by others, please remember that the call to leadership is about cloning other leaders. Think of how many Filipinos at and below poverty line, or other Leader wannabees whose life could forever be changed by your life story in living color.
Think again about the quote from leader Alexis Tan.
2. Making this video, according to some took a great effort: selecting the pictures that would fit the theme (the music) selecting the music, making a story line (supposed to have been done with the movie synopsis and JCampbell) and that meant organizing the record of ones life, and possibly, putting ones life into order too. That is part of self awareness called for by Heroic Leadership by Chris Lowney.
3. One of the Leaders concluded that learning to play the guitar is the thing that she really wanted to do and has not done, and this AVP presentation made her realize that. Another leader said she would quit the corporate life and do something else in accordance with her real passion in life. Wow, game changing pala class na ito.
I hope that you enjoyed this exercise, as I enjoyed ordering your presentation via the site, last Thursday. The upload made it faster and no fuss affair.
Leadership subject at AGSB is an Ateneo advantage. It emphasizes leadership from within, authentic leadership. One of its pillars is love. This is odd in a cold steely corporate world. The others are heroism, ingenuity and self awareness. The goal of leadership is not only to develop oneself but to clone other leaders. Everybody has potential to be leader. What we do, even if we do not have followers influences/affects others. It is time to define Filipino leadership too
