The Learning Agreement is a good starting point for self awareness.

I had three purposes for asking for the learning agreement

1.  To know more, gain more information from the student in a much deeper fashion than what a class card provides.

2.  To gain access his thoughts and aspirations: what he needs to learn, and the reward expectation (since class in a grade game)

3.  For this class, the 5 year plan and the strength  and weakness analysis are start of self awareness, are cues for self awareness for examen

Let me me make some comments:

1.  On financial goals and objectives

I guess or many were shy to state their financial goals. The accountants were bold enough to state the PHP that they wanted to achieve.  Romy Cabuyado, VP Bela Katigbak, VP Corazon Guevarra, VP Oliver Pabillon, Stephanie Ong stated what they wanted in numbers and PHP. I could not guess your baseline.  One of the secrets of success is knowing what you want (Tomas Dizon a developer in Angelies City)  I know of a hospital director who was bypassed in the promotions of a Medical Center under DOH.  Why did it happen?  She was not sure whether she really wanted to be a Medical Center Chief.  She did want to step into others toes, or hurt others feelings. Now she is crying and complaining.  Whose fault was it?

2.  On weaknesses:

1.  Being sensitive to what other people say -  We listen to what people say. But sometimes they are hearsays and incorrect.  Sometimes they do not see the big picture.  As a leader, we have  to view things from the balconey;  others see it from the ground or the gutter. You go for what is right and for the good of many;

2. On being impatient, detailed, stickler for details - Most of these come from lady  leaders.  But as we all know at the other end spectrum, these are also virtues. These are desired traits of  executives who need to get things done.   Also to be an authentic leader, you need to stand up for what you believe in and enforce this consistently.  like being on time, delivering good work, being honest, being hard working.  What matters is being unfair unjust or being inconsistent.

3.  On being impatient - this is a great challenge.  We explain one things, we write a memo and people still do not get it.  We conduct seminar and meetings and they still do not get in.

Yes we have to persevere and be patient.  ABE.  Always be explaining.

Our task as a leader never gets done..  We have to fight against the wave of indifference and lack of understanding sweeping our beachfront of leadership.  As these are erased by these waves, we continue writing, and writing until the wave gives. up

  1. I just realized that writing my strengths and weaknesses is being self aware which is very important for a leader. Being in an administrative position is prestigious and challenging not for the equivalent pay but more of an achievement, but one comes first is my service as a doctor. The pay becomes incidental because if I work hard I get more to make a conmforatble living and provide the needs of our family
