                                          Fun in Leadership Class

It was a great session last night.

1.  The class started with the playing of Man in the Mirror  You tube - Man on the Mirror

Then back again to the basics of leadership.

2.  The professor presented the  Post of Ateneo  Professor Bong Osorio at Philstar on political leadership.  Links were established between his article and that of man on the mirror.  ie that focus is changing must start with the self rather than the world, that in the scheme of things, it not the other person who should matter, but the man in the mirror.  Prof Osorio - Political Brands Must...

Then the question was posed:  how would you run a campaign:

       1. Leader Maricon would not want to be a QC councilor or run against the incumbent, perhaps be active a the Barangay level;

       2.  Leader Atty Leigh would not run because she is not visible in her hometown.  But prefers the way her relative runs the campaign -  to campaign by deeds vs publicity or awareness.

      3. Leader Cat says this is a difficult question

3.  Then we had two games:

                                         Sharing the gifts we have

                                      Ok na pose?

Practicing for an under arm deodorant ad

     1.  A la statue/freeze game on the Songs:   The Greatest Love of All of all, Anak and Imagine The game was led by leader Architect Anna Lee Choco.   Group 4 won the game.  But the it was close game.  Most especially at the Greatest Love of All guessed correctly the next lines

    2. Communications/hearsay games.  It was sort of comedy because the end result in hearsay game was quite twisted from the original. This was won by group 1 led by Leader Gab, having listed correctly 7 facts vs that of Richard.

                                                        7 right hearsays

Richards group had only 6 right info.

4.  We discussed in depth Steve Jobs Graduation speech at Stanford:  connecting the dots, the 3 stories:   dropping out of Reed College and dropping at Calligraphy Class, being fired from the company he established by his subordinate Sculley, and prospect of death after diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.  How this relates to indifference of Chris Lowney (at ingenuity) and love (find what you love, do what you love and love what you do.)

An explanation on connecting the dots -  connect from the past what shaped you (Reflection Paper 2 - factors that shaped you, your origin your genogram to move forward (your passion - your vision -  Reflection Paper 3)

His speech contains the summary of this Leadership Class.

Live as if it were the last day of your life.    Everyday, you look at yourself in the mirror to ask yourself if you live your life to the fullest for the day.

Death is the single most important invention of life.  It clears away the old to give way for the new. And the new are the graduates (the young people)

Dont waste your time  living someone elses life, or living a dogma.

"STAY FOOLISH STAY HUNGRY"

  1. This session was not just full of fun but full of learnings. Hearing Steve Jobs speech at Stanford University was enlightening. It intensified my belief that everything happens for a reason and most often than not, for the better. Adversity teaches us to be innovative and resilient, do whatever you love doing, we have to connect the dots looking backwards rather than forward and passion in everything you do are some of the learnings I got from sir Steve :)

Thank you sir Jorge and classmates for letting me to lead last night's session, it was really a pleasure to lead the finest leaders and future CEO's of their respective companies and businesses :)

    1. Thank you too for being flexible and compliant to a on the spot instruction. You did very well. You too will be a future CEO, or at least a great leader who people will remember and who will mark in construction and architecture.

  2. To all the Leaders, stay hungry, stay foolish! Keep on learning, life is a continuous saga of heroism, its end is your death. Have your saga a colorful and purposeful one, you cannot bring anything upon your death but what would count is the mark that you will leave in this world.

    1. The class has managed to stay foolish many times in as many sessions but not hungry. Gab makes sure we are well fed. Thanks Gab.
