The why (rationale) of team building exercise this Friday

'Quamplurimi et quam aptisimi" (As many as possible of the very best)

Since we will be having team building exercises this Friday at Clear Water (for which the Leaders contributed large chunks of their snacks) it is important to know the why (which is emphasized in Fedex according to Leader Michael) of team building:

1.  What are the objectives:

1.  Boosting morale and motivation
2.  Building trust
3.  Better communication and understanding
4.  Improving productivity
5.  Self awareness (this is a recurring topic)

As a manager, or a leader, the team building exercise is one of your resources to get your team move towards your vision, or the goal you have set.

2.  Types of team building exercises:

1.   Communication
2.  Planning and adaptability exercises
3,  Problem solving and decision making (the team building should cover this topic that is a part of our syllabus)
4.  Building trust

Examples of team building activities from Huddle  We did the create your own activity exercise last Friday and this just a continuation.

4H team building activites

Obstacle course - this is physically demanding and requires some prior strengthening exercises

It is going to be an exciting and momentous event this coming Friday. I am very positive that with my very supportive clash masters working with me, we will definitely achieve the objectives of the team building and experience the exercises of communication, planning and adapting, problem solving and of course building trust with much diligence. So dear Leaders, let us all be prepared physically, mentally and spiritually so that we will be able to maximize the fruitfulness of our team building. See you all on Friday!

  2. 'Quamplurimi et quam aptisimi" (As many as possible of the very best) - the Team Building is a great way to help us identify and develop our staff to be the very best. I am a fan of team building events. The upcoming activity will also give us the opportunity to learn different stories on the impact of Team building to companies. Excited to learn again from my co-leaders so that I may be able to use it to our company. Looking forward to hear from my co-leaders and Thank you in advance!

Hi prof! I really recommend team building in every organization or company. And for me, just like retreats for students and teachers, it should be done every year to maintain and keep the fire (passion/motivation) burning. Team building is a nice venue for employees to open discussions among themselves, and between employees and management thereby improving relationships. It also breaks the barrier between leaders and employees, and develops problem-solving skills- which I look forward to when we take this up on Friday. Thanks prof for posting this additional information about team building! God bless.

Thank you for sharing with us your wealth of resources, Prof. I look forward to this activity in our Leadership course. I am pretty sure that it will not only motivate us, but it will also inspire us as always to do our best during the rest of our formal sessions, and outside the confines of our AGSB Clark room. This team building is our laboratory for experimenting how far we can still go in our social skills which started on session 1.

  5. Leadership course will only be complete with a team building. I commend SIR, for the activities which will enhance and complete our leadership career. Same goes to the Clash leaders and all classmates without whom this will not be possible. Looking forward to Friday . Together we will face the challenges and all will be winners.

  6. Hi Prof, thanks for your inputs. Since our business was established in late 2008, we haven't had a team building yet. But, since our organization has been growing, we have been really considering to have one. Just not sure how to facilitate it. But, I am planning to organize a small team building before the year ends to create more unity within the organization.
