Reflection #3
"The most successful people in life recognize that in life they create their own love, they manufacture their own meaning, and they generate their own motivation." ~ Neil de Grasse Tyson
They say Passion is an intense emotion, a compelling enthusiasm or desire for something. Since we talk about passion I will be sharing my passion in life and what prompts me today.
In my younger years, I used to be interested with cooking and baking. I started my first experiment after I read this book about basic bread making in the school library. Of course I did not do well with baking. I wanted to be good at it however, we don't have the materials like oven, kneading pin, measuring cups and etc. since baking requires exact measure. I saw my creative side and made a way to express it. I even wanted to be a patisserie someday. At present, as hard as it spells, I went through the self-thought baking and sometimes the by products are edible for my husband.
After taking my college degree I had second thought of taking 2-year course at CCA just to give way on my passion. But it was just a second thought and still I pursue med school.

Daily life-As a mother, with no exact idea on becoming one, it has been added on my daily challenges that made me refine my passion. It is more of a calling rather than a responsibility to uphold and though very challenging I can say it evolved to be unconditional. I learned and experience how to be unconditionally passionate in regards to motherhood.
I can describe unconditional passion in three manners. First, being a mother requires 24/7 duty. I need to be physically and emotionally ready to be on duty. Physically ready means to prepare yourself on change sleeping patterns, be physically healthy to breastfeed and organized the needs of my son. Emotional preparedness includes being mother means no day off, no time out and most especially no resignation. The emotional bond that is to share with my son and accept the huge responsibility of taking good care of him from the moment he was conceived until he becomes independent. Second, a mom's love for her child will always be constant even without reciprocal affection. Perhaps because God simply made it that way. He wanted us to learn how to generously give Love without expecting in return. Third, my son is a priceless gift from God. His milestones where collected as precious jewels that would make me remember the feeling I had when I first saw him roll, his first step, his first word he uttered, his first of everything. Those moments are all kept in my heart that will never be erased but constantly be reminisced.
I had privileged to experience motherhood and made me passionate to kids. Very challenging yet fulfilling.
In becoming a wife- Nothing in this world could be as happy as becoming a wife to a very understanding, supporting and loving husband. The very simple reason of being label as a wife makes me wake up in the morning to prepare breakfast, think of the weekly menu that would soothes his meticulous palate, joins him over coffee in the middle of the night to finish his reports. The passion of becoming a wife cultivated my perception to the real meaning of Love. I realize that Love is service, Love is kind, Love is caring and Love gives room for mistakes. I can say I have become a better person because of him.
I am willing to sacrifice my career just to take good care of them. I went to many options but in the end I knew amidst all of earthly achievements is a worthy life's journey with my two boys.
I can say that my passion for cooking and baking did not just fade because my family loves to eat and explore different kinds of food. And for the case of my Husband, who is Kapampangan and had a very good taste buds for authentic food, there will always be a need for new menu dish once in a while.
Life's journey- the sudden change of my career gave me a whole new sight of what is success. The moment I have accepted the time for change, I shed out of my comfort zone. As I deal with kids, my enthusiasm to live like them motivates my inner passion to think of innovative solution to create new service portfolio. Last year, as part of our CSR, we started a program to enlighten our students to the reality of poverty. The program will motivate the students to help and donate consumables to Munting Tahanan foundation- Home for special children(deaf, mute and ASD). It is an eye opening experience not just for the children but also for us. Because of that program I learned that there is a very limited privileges and services offered for Autism.  According to Autism Society of the Philippines, who protects the rights of and the enrichment of the benefits available to persons with autism and their families, there are rules and regulations that addresses the people with Autism.  The following are the laws and implementing guidelines in effect in the Philippines, which champion the cause of persons with autism, and other disabilities:
Republic Acts
Most of the laws implemented have no specification on prioritizing the holistic approach that will address the educational and social responsibility of these children with ASD. Only generalized law but do not specifically address the real issue. From these view I would like to initiate a movement that will help these kids. I would like to develop an institution that will facilitate and serve children with Autism Spectrum Disorder. I believe that there is a need for a leader to help this gifted kids have same privileges as the normal ones. As mention on my previous paper my son is also an inspiration on this project. I know that it is not easy to work on my own, especially to pioneer a new program. I would require enormous and great suggestions from the specialist. Should the project materialized I would like it to be my strama paper proposal. This would be surely be criticized and will be meticulously refine by the panelist. The proposal is a developmental center for ASD or a new services will only not serve OT and speech therapy per se, but will all try to cater other needs. This will include Simulation therapy- high quality pretend play that will help the kids gain knowledge to different occupation, Therapeutic Spa- beneficial for body kinesthetic work, Play school- will only serve educational tools and use portals to address their limited capabilities, Workshop- to help the ASD kids be honed on art, photography, cooking etc. and with unlimited possibilities to include. I aim to pursue this idea and hoping that it may open the door for these gifted kids and get more support from the government. If we start these kids as young as they are they might improve their life and can become responsible citizen in the future. Those who can afford the service had to travel abroad and for those who cannot would just subsidize the so called "special education" in their place.
I am an entrepreneur by heart and seeing the condition of these kids gives me an opportunity to help in the best way possible and at the same time innovate a greater idea. This is one act that can help others and become socially responsible.
As for my renewed passion in work - As a center directress of an enrichment program, my task is not limited to what is asked by the company.  My love for cooking still manifest in different approached. I have formulated our own recipe for good marketing strategies and always thrive above the standard we are required to. I have cooked personalized way of delivering our service efficiently. I share resourceful ideas to motivate their child to love reading. Most of them who chose to follow my suggestions were successful stories.
We do have toddler class as an additional service in our program. But I always try to include and be more that what the curriculum states. We don't settle for what is already been tested, together with my teachers we formulated new approached that would interest these toddlers even in their young age. Even among toddlers,   as I remember our last session activity when we were asked to present anything in our leadership class, as we were told that learning is best apply in unstructured way. The unstructured approach ironically gives them structure. The chance to explorer while learning is our goal for them
Dealing with kids make me think and act more like them. It is the innocence of their heart that you can see through their eyes. I know that these kids are like caterpillars who seek for food to eat and eventually will cover themselves to become cocoon. We, the educators, must generously share our knowledge in abundance. As the right time arrives and the caterpillar comes out of his cocoon, and turned into butterfly, and may endure the beauty of God's creation. It is a fulfilling for me to become part of their foundation that one day they would remember us how we cultivated their mind with motivation and desire to learn.
In my own reflection I could say that most of my passion are not my first love. From becoming a family person to becoming an advocate of education to becoming a center directress. I have my own options yet I had my choices. It is to choose to get out of the box and make a difference.  I learned to love the situation where I am and there I developed them into passion. The passion that I have at present drives me to become better a person.

"If passion drives you, let reason hold the reins." 3
— Benjamin Franklin
