The class plan for the last 3 sessions and guidelines for the final requirements

'Quamplurimi et quam aptisimi" (As many as possible of the very best)

August 3, 2015

As was discussed last Friday at the team building session, the class will hold only 2 more sessions to tackle Audio Visual Presentations, (final requirements)  and the Call to Arms speeches.  The Reflection Paper 3  (a number have submitted theirs all ready)will be submitted online for the 7th session.  From what we gather, as the last session falls on August 21, 2015, there will be a long week end vacation, and the class Leaders are unwilling to hold the session as last week (it was school holiday. The class schedule had 3 holidays:   Ramadan, St. Ignatius  birthday, and this ATOM).  nor are willing to hold make up classes before or after August 21, 2015. We will just compress the presentation and stay longer if necessary, and skip some activities

1.  Deadlines:

Thus the Reflection Paper 3 and the Final Integrative Paper will be submitted online.  Reflection Paper 3 deadline is August 14, Final Integrative Paper is on August 21, 2015

2.  Activities on August 7, and 14

August 7, 2015,      27 call to arms speeches -  135 minutes minimum (two hours and 15 minutes

                                    14 AVP presentation 5 minutes each  70 minutes ( 1 hour 10 minutes)

Total time   3 hours 25 minutes

    August 14, 2015     14 AVP and closing ceremonies;

                                    decision making/conflict resolution

Final group presentation speeches (song, dance)

                                   Singing of  Song to Mary

3.  Reminders on the final paper and AVP   (worth 30 points)

       1.  Our AVP requirements say: for session 8 (as written on the syllabus)  15 points

"Students will showcase their personal mission as translated through posters , video presentation and other audio visual exhibit.  The exhibit should reflect the student's personal mission and passion addressing the "world's hunger"  We put 9 other options for the students to brain storm supposedly in the 5th session.  The leaders should have clarified their mission in the said exercise.

The reflection paper 3 and the topic for the AVP are related.

Ateneo, SJ wants you to be at the forefront, at the area where your faith and leadership meet the world's deepest needs. Where your talent, meets what the world urgently needs to solve. Unlike the Benedectine monks who hide behind the cloisters and monestaries, or OP who just teach, SJ want you to join the problems of the world, and help eradicate this.  As is with the present Pope Francis who got into trouble by not minding what the tyrants in his home country was doing against its people.  Some Jesuits were even involved in the Theology of Liberation

Thus this Leadership class does not end in the 7th session or in this classroom.  It has to continue and prosper and bloom, through your ingenuity and heroism singly or as a class  We can not bury our heads  (like ostricth) in the textbooks, or the blog site, or the team building activities.  We have to be more. (Magi)  We have to be ingenious.

Thus this leadership can evolve two ways (or even three ways)

1. To donate to causes, or engage in charitable work (Corporate Social Responsibility)

2.   Be the best you can be heroic in your present job.  God puts your talent where there is the deepest need.  Thus by being good, or being the best, you influence others, you generate more employment, more cures, less pain for the diseased, more enlightened students better products, :  for food, for telecon, better services etc. (Profit maximization to pay more taxers and finance govt operations and support society and economy.   Nation building where you are now.)

 3.  To engage full time in advocacies and ministries;   save the environment, breastfeeding, improving maternal health, fighting poverty, serving in  your church. (Social entrepreneurship)

The choice is yours.   We do not want to have students/graduates who in the pursuit of position of power  and wealth would be unmindful of present challenges.  While we make students aware of global warming, climate change, renewable and sustainable business, some student corporate officers of coal and bunker fuel fired reconditioned power plants would simply want their plant to obtain their ROI, but reducing their CO2 emissions (related to global warming) is Germane to this officer (finance) How is this related to Yolanda super typhoon

     2.  Final integrative paper  (worth 15 points)

We did not have any exams, midterm or final.  The FIP is in lieu of the final exams.  This is worth 15 points.   How long shall it be?  As long and as short as necessary to comply with these two requirements:

1, comprehensive  -  did the paper cover all the things mentioned in the readings, (from the desktop, from this blog) and class discussions, from others papers?

        2.  integrative-  did the paper unify the thoughts concepts, and ideas into one cohesive whole. The example was my wheel of leadership.   Can you even generate your own leadership theory. ?

HI Prof. Thanks for the pointers that you have shared for our remaining /final requirements. Thank you also for reminding us about our mission on earth and sustaining and carrying it on after this course. Yes, you are right Prof, leadership does not end in the classroom or after our 7th session. The action is outside our comfort zone. A lot of thanks also for the encouragement and enlightenment. God bless you po and more power!

Just like the lead inside the pencil which is for writing (which is its purpose), the seed (learnings) through the goodness of God is already within/inside us. And like the pencil we have to remember five things(excerpts from The Parable of the Pencil): "ONE: We will be able to do many great things, but only if we allow ourselves to be held in God's hand. And allow other human beings to access us for the many gifts we possess.
TWO: We will experience a painful sharpening from time to time, by going through various problems, but we'll need it to become stronger persons.
THREE: We will be able to correct any mistakes we might make.
FOUR: The most important part of us will always be what's on the inside.
AND FIVE: On every surface we walk through, we must leave our mark. No matter what the situation, we must continue to do our duties. By understanding and remembering, let us proceed with our life on this earth having a meaningful purpose in our heart. " God bless po!

Let us pray this prayer fellow Leaders
"Dear Lord, in Jesus' name I come to You today. Help me to reflect on who I am as a person before You. Help me to clearly discern the reasons why You have chosen and called me to serve You in this present world. If I have allowed the circumstances and/or disappointments of life to blunt my enthusiasm and passion for You, I ask You to place Your finger on the cause and let me be released to serve You in a greater way. Dear Jesus, help me to be so much the more sharper in my day to day life so that others will see and know that You are the Lord of my life in every way. I really do want to leave my mark for You in this world. In Jesus' name I pray these things, Amen."
