MM Leadership CALL TO ARMS SPEECH by Leader Rachel O. Lopez

Hello Prof. Jorge,
Here is my CTA. Have a nice day ahead.
I would like to acknowledge the presence of our eloquent Professor Jorge Saguinsin, our ravishing evaluators Atty. Leigh Abarquez and Vice President Mel Flores and my outstanding co-Leaders. Good Evening!
What is the one thing we desire yet never run out of reasons to achieve it?
As to the great Greek physician Herophilus:

When health is absent, wisdom cannot reveal itself, art cannot manifest, strength cannot fight, wealth becomes useless and intelligence cannot be applied.
We find ourselves working too hard and we rest too little. Life has been so busy that we no longer have time to sustain our health. We always have our own excuses, exercise can no longer fit in on our schedule, it's hard to stick with healthy habits and we even deprived ourselves of sleep. We neglect our bodies until we get sick or are in pain.

Nurturing our body together with the mind and spirit could give us a new perspective and that will allow us to achieve more. But how can we be mindful on how we will nurture our self? How can we give the care and compassion that it deserves?

First, get enough sleep.

According to the National Sleep Foundation (NSF), sleep is essential for a person's health and wellbeing. Individuals' sleep may vary but in general, most healthy adults are built for 16 hours of wakefulness and need an average of eight hours of sleep at night. Sleeping can boost memory and creativity. Not getting enough of it, makes you eat more and weigh more. Without sleep, we become grouchy and we can't respond rationally to situations.

Second, drink water and eat healthy.

Your body is composed of 60% water. Your water intake should equal to your fluid losses. While this may not equal to eight glasses, drinking water is essential to your health. The functions of these bodily fluids include digestion, absorption, circulation, and transportation of nutrients to the body.
Eat "real food". Real food is unprocessed, unrefined, pastured, and natural foods. As to journalist Michael Pollan, "Don't eat anything your great-grandmother wouldn't recognize as food".  As much as possible we should skip industrial processed food.

Third, exercise regularly.

Having a regular exercise could lead to reduce stress, boost self esteem, improve sleep and combat depression.  When you exercise, your body releases chemicals that make you feel exhilarated and block any feelings of pain. It also increases your energy levels, lowers blood pressure, makes you look fit, increase brain function and also enhances neurogenesis.  Every time you exercise you are creating new brain cells. Schedule a regular workout time, set a goal and find what activity you enjoy the most.

Though I am not sure whether these were said by Steve Jobs himself, I would want to end my speech with this:

What is the most expensive bed in the world? Sick bed…

You can employ someone to drive the car for you, make money for you but you cannot have someone to bear the sickness for you.

"Stay Hungry. Stay Foolish. But stay Healthy "

Thank you!

Regards,

Leader Rachel Lopez
